The Spitalerstraße is only ever empty when all stores have closed. During the opening hours pedestrians stroll through the tightly packed streets. The shopping paradise Spitalerstraße is characterized through its high-profile and its extensive mix of different stores. On the Spitalerstraße one can not only shop, all other errands can be done there also: the service offered ranges from pharmacies and banks, to opticians and telephone providers. 

If you stroll through the Spitalerstraße, you will immediately notice Hanseatic structures from its founding period, which also act magnificently as historical scenery for the yearly Christmas market.

Here you can find the complete range of trendy brands: Hennes & Mauritz (H&M), New Yorker, Vero Moda, S.Oliver, Jack & Jones, Zara, Zero, Kenvelo and Orsay are represented as well as the larger department stores Peek & Cloppenburg und Anson’s, the leading provider in men’s clothing.

Karstadt Sport & Spiel rounds up the offer of Women and Men’s fashion, and the Lego Brand Store is not only a special highlight for the kids on the Spitalerstraße.

Shoes

For all shoe lovers, there is a particularly large selection of shops on the Spitalerstraße: Next to Deichmann, Nike and Runners Point, particularly Görtz impresses with an assortment of shoes on an four entire floors. The jewellery stores Bijou Brigitte and Six beeline, the furniture store Depot and the photo specialist 1000 Töpfe complement, together with Tschibo, Douglas, the Thalia bookstore and the cosmetic store Lush, the picture of a shopping street that is prepared for the needs of everyone.

 

Food and drink

With a historical background you can dine at the fish restaurant Daniel Wischer. There you can purchase typical local fish dishes to fair prices, and that since 1924. In the café restaurant Vivet you can have light Mediterranean cuisine, tarte flambee and cool drinks. The Vienna Cafe Wirth at the Mönckebergbrunnen honours its name with delicious cakes and selected coffee specialties.
