SMEs are the backbone of the Hamburg economy. Medium-sized enterprises are responsible for around 70 per cent of jobs and about 80 per cent of traineeships.
Hamburg provides a network of specialists to support these businesses in particular. Here you can find a quick overview of people companies can approach if they have a problem that they cannot solve on their own – whether it is a question of getting a permit or finding premises.
As a business friendly city, Hamburg provides a central contact point specifically for small and medium-sized enterprises from the services, manufacturing and skilled trades sectors.
The "pilot" for SMEs acts as a mediator between the business community and the authorities. In individual cases she can intercede on a company’s behalf, make specific contacts and assist with complicated approval issues. She works closely with specialists in the Hamburg districts, government departments, chambers of trade and commerce and trade associations and is supported by the HWF’s “Services for Businesses in Hamburg” team.
This successful service has been running since 2002.
